ENERGY EFFICIENCY & RELIABILITY AT MISSION-CRITICAL CENTRE
| The Challenge
Polaris Data Centre is a mission-critical $212 million technological development within Greater Springfield, Queensland. The centre’s Tier III N+2 status means that it is designed to remain operational even in instances of maintenance and outages (limited to 72 hours), highlighting its importance to customers as well as its energy-intensive operational needs.
The largest data centre of its type in Queensland, with 7,000m2 of raised floor space across 3 levels, the client required a complete asset management service provider that would assure the site’s reliability to effectively support the data performance demands required by its users.
| Veolia’s Solution
Having an intimate knowledge of the client’s challenges, Veolia partnered with the Polaris Data Centre to optimise their operating conditions and energy costs. Veolia assumed responsibility for the operations and maintenance of systems and processes related to the utilities and building, and of the overall energy efficiency of the data centre in a in initial 15-year Comprehensive Multi-Technical Asset Management contract, which has been extended by 5+5 years. This multi-technical asset management solution is focused on creating greater energy efficiency through improved power usage effectiveness (PUE) and enhanced ICT sustainability.
Veolia introduced to the centre a team of 12 dedicated staff and a suite of administrative and policy procedures, as well as assuming responsibility for the selection and management of subcontractors and tenant fit-out activities, to ensure strong operational integrity.
