Accelerating Ecological Transformation Through GreenUp

Veolia's GreenUp strategic program is our 3-year roadmap that is accelerating our efforts to achieve our purpose of Ecological Transformation. Through ambitious global and local targets, GreenUp outlines our priorities to enhance capabilities in decarbonisation, depollution, and resource regeneration.

Australia was identified as one of three key regions with the highest potential for accelerated growth through GreenUp. To demonstrate this, our local GreenUp ambitions across ANZ are to grow our waste, water, and industrial activities by 10% year on year while increasing our energy business tenfold, and halving our carbon emissions by 2032.

OUR 3 PILLARS OF GREENUP

We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and contributing to a low-carbon future. To achieve this, we are implementing a range of initiatives across our operations, including transitioning our fleet to electric and hybrid vehicles, increasing our use of renewable energy sources, and improving our own energy efficiency as well as our customers'.
Our growing capabilities in water, waste, and soil depollution mean a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future for people and our environment. Through the implementation of a comprehensive strategy that combines innovative technologies, expert services, and community engagement, we are making strides in identifying, mitigating, and treating pollution.
Resource regeneration is one of the main pillars of ecological transformation, enabling a fundamental shift from waste, water, and energy inefficiency to protecting and renewing our valuable resources. By utilising innovative technologies and circular economy principles, we can unlock the full value of waste materials, wastewater, and energy sources.

Our 2024 achievements

In the first year of Veolia's GreenUp strategic program (2024-2027), Veolia Australia and New Zealand demonstrated remarkable progress, evidencing our commitment to ecological transformation through significant achievements across all three pillars.

Expanded our renewable energy capabilities through Energy In a Box acquisition.

Enhanced our waste management infrastructure with new facilities including Australia's largest anaerobic digestion plant.

Strengthened our water services with the extension of our operations at Sydney Desalination Plant to 2042.

These milestones, along with our new Net Zero plan and improved landfill gas capture systems, showcase our dedication to decarbonisation, depollution, and regeneration of natural resources, setting a strong foundation for our continued contribution to a more sustainable future.
