Understand the Condition of Your Water Network Using Non-intrusive Pipeline CCTV Solutions

Knowing the true condition of your buried water and wastewater network is the difference between planned, cost-effective renewal and a reactive, disruptive failure. Veolia delivers pipeline CCTV inspections and condition assessment that give asset owners a clear, evidence-based picture of what is happening inside their pipes and maintenance holes.

What is Pipeline CCTV Inspection and Condition Assessment?

Pipeline CCTV inspection uses a camera-equipped crawler (an inspection tractor) driven through a pipeline to record a continuous, high-resolution video of the internal condition of the asset. Trained operators code every observation, such as cracks, root intrusion, joint displacement, corrosion, deposits and infiltration, against recognised industry standards.

Condition assessment takes that raw footage one step further. The coded defects are analysed and graded to produce a structural and service condition rating for each pipe, along with a clear recommendation on whether it should be monitored, cleaned, repaired, relined or replaced. The result is a defensible dataset that turns guesswork into a prioritised works programme.

Learn More About Our Pipeline CCTV Solutions

Backed by 170+ years of global water expertise and a nationally deployed inspection fleet, our teams capture accurate, defect-coded data that supports confident decisions on maintenance, rehabilitation and capital planning.

Our inspection fleet and reporting standards are built for utility-grade accuracy and consistency:

  • Full HD 1080 video footage recorded on every inspection for clear, reviewable evidence
CCTV inspection tractors with built-in inclination, allowing gradient to be reported on every inspection
  • Laser Scan 3D capability using additional WinCanVX modules for detailed geometric assessment
  • Operators WinCan training certified, in addition to Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA) inspection supervision
  • Responsive maintenance capability to mobilise quickly when urgent inspections are required
  • Currently operating WinCanVX Version 12 (Version 14 released in 2023 and planned for future rollout)

When to Utilise CCTV Inspection and Assessment

Our inspection and assessment services support a wide range of assets and scenarios, including reticulation and trunk sewers, stormwater networks, rising mains, culverts and maintenance holes. Typical drivers include pre-handover and defect-liability inspections, proactive condition-based renewal programmes, post-incident investigations, blockage and infiltration diagnosis, and pre-rehabilitation surveys ahead of relining or patching works.

Maintenance Hole Surveying, Inspections & Condition Assessment

Maintenance holes are critical access and structural points in any sewer network, and they deteriorate just as pipes do. Veolia surveys and assesses maintenance holes alongside your pipelines so no part of the asset is left un-assessed:

  • CCTV inspection and condition assessment of maintenance holes with evaluation reporting
  • Condition assessment reporting that includes a recommendation for the next maintenance activity
  • Digital scanning of sewer maintenance holes, cleaning and condition reporting, plus laser profiling of sewers
  • Clever Scan maintenance hole scanning technology
  • SPiDER CAM maintenance hole scanning technology
  • Responsive maintenance for urgent or reactive requirements

What standard do you use to code pipeline defects?

Our operators are WinCan training certified and work under Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA) inspection supervision, so defects are coded and graded against recognised industry standards for consistent, defensible reporting.

What resolution is the CCTV footage?

Every inspection is recorded in full HD 1080 resolution, giving you clear, reviewable evidence of the internal condition of each asset.

Can you assess maintenance holes as well as pipes?

Yes. We survey and condition-assess maintenance holes using CCTV, digital scanning, laser profiling and specialist technologies including Clever Scan and SPiDER CAM.

Do you provide recommendations or just raw footage?

Both. Alongside the coded footage we provide condition assessment reporting with a clear recommendation on the next maintenance activity, whether that is monitoring, cleaning, repair, relining or replacement.

Can you carry out the repairs you identify?

Yes. Veolia delivers cleaning, relining, patching and junction sealing in-house, so we can move directly from inspection to rehabilitation without a separate contractor.
