Welshpool's role in the organics circular economy
Veolia's Welshpool RRP plays a critical role in closing the loop on organic waste. Accepting collections of food and garden organic waste from WA communities, the material is sorted and sent to our North Bannister Resource Recovery Park in purpose-built vehicles designed for safe and hygienic organic waste transportation. Here, the organic material undergoes an 18-week transformation into premium compost.
To maximise transportation efficiency, we utilise a smart logistics system so that trucks which are delivering new organic material to North Bannister are then backloaded with the finished compost, returning it to Welshpool for sale. This approach creates an efficient circular transport model, which significantly reduces fuel consumption and cost while lowering our carbon impact.
