Information provided at the community information sessions

Overview of the Meet the Experts community event

In response to community feedback, we organised an information session with the independent researchers who are conducting the studies as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) as well as our own engineers and project experts, which took place in June. This opportunity provided further information about the Advanced Energy Recovery Centre and its planning process.

Members of surrounding communities were invited to come learn about how environmental and health safety assessments are undertaken in relation to the EIA, to discuss these topics in depth, and to raise any questions with both Veolia's project team and the independent experts. Specifically, this session's focus was with regard to the Air Quality Impact Assessment, and Human Health Risk Assessment. We also provided an update on our progress in the planning process, information on how our energy recovery technology works, and the EIA's process. We offered guided bus tours of our Woodlawn Eco Precinct to anyone interested, which had a very positive reception.

A total of 44 attendees joined us throughout the day, who asked questions regarding air and soil quality monitoring, odour, pre-existing independent research, and the Environmental Impact Statement. To view the information we had on display, please follow the links below.

Next steps

The Community Information Sessions form part of our ongoing engagement with the community about the proposed ARC. There will be further opportunities to engage with us, particularly through the formal public exhibition period for the Environmental Impact Statement.

We hope this formal exhibition will take place in the coming months. It is an opportunity for community members to have their say on the project in its entirety, including the assessments, reports and surveys we are undertaking now.

We will continue to keep you updated as we progress. As always, if you have any questions or would like a detailed briefing on any aspect of the project, please don’t hesitate to ask. Feedback can also be submitted to us at any time by getting in contact with us here

To ensure you're included on future communications, please sign up to our mailing list here.
