Veolia ANZ today announced it will match the $200,000 donation from Veolia Mulwaree Trust to further aid relief efforts for the bushfire emergency.
As a business committed to preserving and replenishing the environment, and one with operations in impacted areas, Veolia’s CEO and Managing Director, Danny Conlon, said it was determined to get behind communities in need.
“The devastating effects on communities, wildlife and natural habitat that has been caused by the bushfires raging across the country has shocked and distressed our Veolia community. The scale of this crisis is unprecedented, and our hearts go out to those that have suffered directly, but also to our heroic firefighters who have been firefighting day in and day out, saving homes, people and wildlife.”
This collective donation of $400,000 will benefit a range of registered charities supporting local communities where Veolia operates, including Rural Aid, Blazeaid, Wildlife Rescue South Coast, WIRES, Conservation Volunteers Australia, Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund, Wildlife Victoria, Native Animal Trust Fund, Aussie Ark - Australia Action Fund and Wangi Men's Shed.
This follows a host of other support already extended across both South Australia and the East Coast, including the provision of demountables, portable toilet and shower blocks, spill kits, water storage tanks, sharps containers, bins for people displaced by the bushfires, water transport services to assist the firefighting aerial fleet and use of the Veolia Goulburn Arena as an evacuation centre.
With over 4,000 employees across Australia and New Zealand, Veolia has also been supportive of staff wanting to contribute “We’ve had a number of staff members from across the business volunteering their time and resources through the bushfires, and we’re supportive of any staff looking to get in and help their local community.”
