Over the years it has grown to be a broad, global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated by stakeholders in over 100 countries. It also serves as the ‘people’s day’ for doing something positive for the environment, galvanizing individual actions into a collective power that generates an exponential positive impact on the planet.
To celebrate World Environment Day (WED) Veolia teams across Australia and New Zealand will be getting their hands dirty to help the planet, participating in the ultimate Tree Planting or Beat the Weed Challenge through our major partnership with Conservation Volunteers.
Employees will take part in a challenge to plant one tree for each of Veolia’s 4200 employees in Australia and New Zealand. 10 locations across Australia and New Zealand will be cleared of competing weeds and regenerated with hundreds of new native trees and shrubs.
Take a #treelfie for WED
In Australia and New Zealand, Veolia is also running a social media campaign to encourage people to consider the important role trees play in the natural environment.
The #treelfie campaign asks people to submit a selfie photo with a tree, with the best entries submitted to Veolia's Global World Environment Day Photo Competition. Some fantastic entries have already been received. To view the latest #treelfies visit Veolia ANZ’s Facebook or Twitter pages.
Share your photo with #treelfie on Veolia ANZ’s social feeds (Twitter or Facebook) by the end of June.
