Clinical Waste

Clinical waste is generated from medical, nursing, dental, pharmaceutical or other clinical activity. It has the potential to cause injury or infection and therefore needs to be handled with care.

Clinical waste includes human or animal tissue, body fluids and soiled bandages. It is important that these items are disposed of safely, it cannot be disposed as general waste.

Does Veolia collect clinical waste?

Veolia’s highly trained and experienced team can safely collect and correctly sterilise or dispose your clinical waste at our thermal destruction or autoclave facility.

The clinical waste will be collected by our dedicated hazardous waste fleet and transported to our specialised waste facility.

The waste stream is taken to our thermal destruction facility and processed through an automatically controlled waste feed that ensures efficient combustion and complete destruction.  The waste is exposed to a chamber temperature of 1000 degrees Celsius, and the emissions are controlled to surpass European Standards, which exceed current Australian standards. Equipment that can be sterilised and reused will be processed at an autoclave facility.
