Leaving school after fifth form with no qualifications or school certificates, Dan got a job on the stop/go paddle with a contractor supporting the road maintenance and three waters maintenance teams. Demonstrating hard work, perseverance and the right attitude, Dan was offered a team leader role with Veolia in 2006. Dan has grown into a respected leader, known for his deep understanding of the work and his strong commitment to the people around him. He has developed a culture within his teams that is grounded in trust, empathy, and opportunities. Dan actively recruits people who, like him, just need an opportunity to prove themselves. *“Everyone has something they’re good at – it’s up to us to unlock that,”* he says. For Dan, Veolia is more than a job; it’s a community. He thrives on seeing others succeed, especially those who were never expected to.
